| | "Some people say as long as you love each other everything is alright. But I think that is a naive view. I've come to believe that not all love is right. And that is the greatest sacrifice. To give up something you love to obey God"
I will confess to you that I have never found a great thing to say to homosexuals, men or women. As much as I try to hide it, I am a bit homophobic. So far the best things I can say is to retreat to the bible, and say "If we go to the bible...", then point out how Homosexuality is inconsistent and punishable by death in the Old Testament (Sodom and Gomorrah took a beating there), and how even though the New Testament doesn't specifically mention homosexuality, it does mention sexual purity, and extension of the sins that were counted as punishable by death in the old testament Jewish Law.
In the debate on whether or not same sex, well, sex, is acceptable, all I had was the legalist, the pharisee, the part of me that I knew I had to see less and less of.
I got this quote from a friend who really met the person at class. The story is that she was a lesbian, then interestingly, she met a Christian Lesbian in Germany, converted to Christianity, got convicted, and left her 'old self' behind, leaving the liberal Christian lesbian that originally converted her. I don't know the story of the old girlfriend to date.
When I read this quote, alot of things fit together, and it was a grand moment of "Why didn't I think of that before?"
Love! I presented a sermon on love, I write stories about love, I am one of love's biggest fans, all my Life has been about searching the true meaning, context, for Love in every situation!
And I missed out a Love that was greater than me? Shame, shame. I repent O' Lord.
Surely to Love God is so much more important to love a man or a woman! Jesus told us if we loved our mother, father, brother, sister, friend, husband, wife, more than God, it would be worth nothing, because these people couldn't save you from the consequence of sin. Surely Loving God is better than the ideals we hold, better than the love we give, better than the love we long to receive!
God won't leave you hanging here though. Hetero-sexuality was built for us. It is not stock off the walls of your nearest supermarket, it's custom made, from the finest quality, for us. God made it so that we may glorify Him, in our marriage, in our relation, in our Love.
Ah, Love. How I've missed thee.
